Protect your Lips During the Cold Winter Days!

The cold, dry, winter days can be harsh on your lips too. What is your favorite lip product. Lots of people like the regular original Vaseline, regular chap stick, Burts Beewax, Lipfusion, Lansinoh, and my favorite Aquaphor.

Aquaphor healing ointment is a thick petroleum jelly like Vaseline, except better. Aquaphor contains some medication in it too, so it protects your lips a little better.

Here are the ingredients:
Active Ingredient: Petroleum (41%), Inactive Ingredients: Mineral Oil, Ceresin, Lanolin Alcohol, Panthenol, Glycerin, Bisabolol

The panthenol and glycerin may help to moistorize your lips more too. Petroleum and minerol oil form a protective layer over your lips, allowing your lips time to heal and protect themselves from the environment. Bisabolol is also an very good anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory.

I wear Aquaphor every night and it last pretty much the whole night on me. I use to have to reapply chap stick every couple hours, but with Aquaphor I hardly ever reapply.

Aquaphor can also be wore on the driest parts of your body, like your hands, feet, and even your face. If your face gets really irritated and dry from harsh skincare products, try a thin layer of Aquaphor over night.

Treat Feet with Vaseline

Rather you choose to make a gift for someone or buy it, you are bound to be on your feet a lot this month. The Christmas season is the time for shopping. Giving to your love ones and those less fortunate is important for everyone, perhaps pick up a jar of Vaseline as a stocking stuffer.

Being on your feet can be great for your waistline, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, but it can also bring havoc on your feet. Taking care of your feet during the wintertime should be on your list too.

The cold, windy, winter days can make your feet more dry. And the extra time on your feet can make them sore. It is time to treat your feet with a little gift for their strength of holding you up this season.

Every night put on a little extra thick cream or the original Vaseline in a big tub all over your feet. Then slip on your cozy soft socks and get your beauty sleep. Since it is wintertime, wearing socks should not be too hard or hot. Many people wonder how to get great feet for summer, but taking care of them in the winter is essential too. And if you take care of them now you may not even need to ship them into shape come summertime.

Here’s to a toesy soft feet winter!

12 Ways to Use Vaseline

I love Vaseline products as many of you may know. It really is one of the best moisturizing skincare products out there. And it comes directly from the ground, so for all of you natural lovers out there. How more natural can you get?

There are many ways to use the good old fashion 100% Vaseline in a big tub. Try some of these 12 ways to use Vaseline!

1. Put a coat on your eyelashes before you go to bed. Lots of people swear by this - and say it will make your lashes grow longer and thicker over time.
2. Put a coat of Vaseline on your feet at night, cover them with socks and wake up to softer feet - every day!
3. Put Vaseline on your elbows every day - they will stay soft!
4. Put Vaseline on your cuticles several times a day for softer and better looking cuticles every day.
5. Put Vaseline on chapped lips
6. Use Vaseline as lip gloss
7. Can be used as a moisturizer for acne prone skin types (it is a misconception that it clogs pores)
8. Moisturizes severe dry skin
9. Applying Vaseline on your teeth prevents lips from sticking to teeth. Celebrities and contestants in beauty pageants use this trick so they can smile the whole time!
10. Makeup remover
11. Use on cuticles
12. Use on eyelids and then apply eyeshadow for that dewy look.

Happy Hump Day! Here’s to soft skin and Vaseline petroleum jelly!

Wal-Mart's Brand of Vaseline's Coco Butter Lotion

Wal-Mart now has their Equate brand of Coco Butter lotion that is basically the same as Vaseline’s Cocoa Butter! I was excited to see it! Target already has already their brand, but now Wal-Mart carries it too.

Vaseline is the second ingredient on the ingredient list. Vaseline is one of the most moisturizing ingredients, so this is great! All that matters is ingredients, so if you can find a great deal like this and it works for your skin, then do not pass it up! Price does not mean much, it is up to the ingredients and you.

Have silky smooth skin and a great day today!

Long Luxurious Lashes

What will make your eye lashes longer?

Well, unfortunately nothing has been proven to make your eyelashes grow longer yet. There are many companies out there that claim to make your eyelashes grow longer, such as Revitalash and Jan Marini, but they do not really work. They will make your lashes appear healthier, the same way your hair looks healthier when you use conditioners. They may make your eyelashes grow faster and then fall out naturally, because they are healthier, but not necessarily longer.

These special eyelash conditioners are quite expensive too! If you want to condition your lashes, try plain old Vaseline. Vaseline is an excellent moisturizer! Rub a tiny bit of Vaseline in between your fingers and gently coat your eyelashes. Or you can use a clean mascara brush! You do not need to soak your lashes in Vaseline just a little coat is enough.

Don’t worry too much about Vaseline getting into your tear duct. You would not be applying that much. Besides Vaseline is used in operations. You know when they cover your eyelid with Vaseline and then gauze. Vaseline is also used for eyelids that have diseases.

I hope your eyelashes look lavishly beautiful soon!

If all else fails there’s always mascara that gives the best facade of the longest eyelashes!

The 5 Best Creams to Soft Hands!

Have you ever wanted soft hands that felt like a Queen's hands? Hands that feel like you have never worked a day in your life?

Some of the best hand creams are:

1. Your favorite thick body cream. There is no requirement that you have to buy those little bottles of hand cream.

2. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. It sinks right in and makes your hands feel very silky. I really like this one. And the little tube sits nicely on your night stand.

3. Aveda Hand Relief. This one gets great reviews.

4. Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Hand Cream. This cream has a lot of Urea in it, which can be very good for people with excema.

5. Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Cream. This one is really thick and the fact that it is a large tube helps too. I really like this one also!

I hope you find a cream that makes your handshakes a shake worth remembering.

High Oil Prices in Cosmetics!

The oil prices are hitting the cosmetic industry too.

Transportation cost, energy costs, and the cost of raw materials have gone up. Yes, we are all affected by the high oil prices. We all have to figure out how to get by.

Many of the big personal care manufactures are feeling it in the profits due to the high oil prices and that consumer spending power has been reduced due to specter of inflation.

So I think that means we need to help out the economy a little more and buy more cosmetics!

Fortunately, the prices of cosmetics have not raised on us, the consumers. The finished good manufactures have been absorbing the high costs. Although with the price of oil continually rising the manufactures are faced with a tough choice on whether to keep absorbing the costs or passing it along to us, the consumer.

Shoot and I never thought I would be short on oil, on my face that is…..haha. Okay, okay just trying to lighten the mood.

If you want to know what I think we should do about high oil prices check out my other blog, but only if you dare and if you will come back.

If the prices do hit the consumers then I say find a cheaper alternative to all your cosmetics. I find that many drugstore or cheaper versions work just as good if not better than the upper-end brands! Check that out now even, maybe it will help You save a little on gas!

Soften Your Rough Feet with These 3 Tips!

Having really dry rough callused feet is not fun or very pretty for summertime.

Don't worry there are ways to dramatically soften your feet so they will be silky smooth in that hot new sandal you just bought!

Every night wear apply body and hand lotion or a thick cream to your rough feet. Put on socks and sleep in them overnight and your feet will be so soft in the morning. Let me stress again, every night, this is key. Consistently applying the lotion every night will work wonders.

(I have been doing this all winter and I am very surprise how much this helps to make my feet softer! I take my showers in the morning and apply my lotion all over my body, then at night time I apply my thick cream to my feet. I also apply the cream to my delicate chest area too, why not make them soft as can be as well:)

AHA Lotions

There is also AHA lotion that you can use to exfoliate your feet, but if you put it on the top of your feet make sure to put sunscreen on the top of your feet during the day. Because AHA lotion makes you more photosensitive to the sunlight. But hey, wearing sunscreen on the top of your feet will only help your feet to stay younger too!

(I am going to have to try to remember to put sunscreen on the top of my feet even if I don't wear AHA lotion, especially since it is summertime and I am wearing sandals more now.)

Exfoliating Your Rough Feet

Exfoliating your feet with an upper end pumice stones work well too, remember to wet the stone and use an exfoliating scrub with it. Be gentle though, don't scrub too hard, or you might hurt yourself. Exfoliating with a foot file works even better than the pumice stones, specifically the Microplane in the orb style.

Exfoliating with the "As Seen On T.V." Ped Egg also gets great reviews too, more so than the pumice stones. I think the ped egg looks kind of painful, but they say it works really well. Although, they can all be painful if you scrub your feet too hard. So be gentle yet firm with your rough feet. I have heard that more people like the Microplane foot file, but it is up to you if you want to splurge on your precious feet that work hard everyday to hold you up, or not. Yes, your feet work hard all day long, so give your feet some attention every night. Treat them right and they will treat you right, and they will be soft. If you have severely dry feet and you get cracked heels, then you need to pay extra attention to your feet. Check out that link to my other post for some great tips!

Apply More Body Lotions

A cream with with 40% Urea in the ingredients list will work well. If you want to get specific about the cream to use, try Topix Urix 40 it is one body and hand lotion to buy that contains that much urea. Just plain petroleum jelly or Vaseline will work great too. I even wrote a post about 12 ways to use Vaseline. Petroleum is a very moisturizing ingredient that will soften your feet. Apply the lotion, slather on the petroleum jelly, put on your socks, and have a good night sleep dreaming about your soft as a baby's feet in the morning.

I love Bath and Body Works body creams too! They are so thick, smell heavenly, and rub in nice and fast. However, today I went to Target and lo and behold they had another one of my all time favorite lotions! It is the Vaseline brand lotion in Coco Butter, but they had the lotion in the Target brand! Yay, finally! I have been waiting for the Coco Butter one to come out in the Target Brand! I didn't think it was going to happen, but it did! This Vaseline Coco Butter lotion is the best, it smells great, rubs in nicely, pretty thick for a lotion, and the best of all has petroleum as the second ingredient!

Petroleum is the most moisturizing ingredient! And I have search far and long for a lotion that has petroleum as the second ingredient and Vaseline's Coco Butter lotion is the only one that has it. Yup, even the other Vaseline brands do not have petroleum as the second ingrediant oddly enough.

So I am really excited about the better deal of Target's brand Coco Butter lotion. Now Target brand really is just as good as the big brands. Same ingredients, same size, for a better deal!

Remember it is all about the ingredients!

Time to Wash Your Face. Want Some Oil?

Ok, so hopefully some of you found some new sunscreens to try out!?

Well these
sunscreen can be stubborn to remove and water resistant. So you want to make sure that your remove it completely before bedtime. And using makeup remover over your whole face can be very drying, depending on which makeup remover you use. And some makeup removers say they are alcohol free, when they are not!

The best thing I have found to remove my makeup are Oils!

Yes, that is right oil. At first I was like what!? I can't put oil on my super oily face! But oil actually dissolves oil. And it is extremely gentle and does not strip your face. So you really do not want all those products out there, that say oil free! Because oil gets rid of dirt, makeup, and can clean out the pores!

There are a lot of oils out there. I like Jojoba oil the best. Jojoba oil is the closest oil to sebum, which is what your facial oil glands produce. Jojoba oil can be used on oily and dry skin. But oily skinned gals seem to like it better. There is also olive oil, which has lots antioxidants and many dry women like. Yes, the olive oil in your kitchen!

Just Google Oils for Face!

There are so many different oils out there with so many different benefits.

I love removing my makeup with oils. It is the best eye makeup remover ever! I wet a cotton pad and squirt a little oil on it then press it against my eyelid for a few seconds. Then I gently wipe my eyelid. And Poof! It all comes off! No Stinging! And oils actually moisturize too. So while I am remove my makeup it is moisturizing not stripping/irritating my skin dry.

  • First you need to wash your hands with soap and water for 30seconds or more.
  • Then you drop a few drops of oil into your fingers and glide it gently all over your face.
  • And then you wet a cotton pad and drop a few drops on the pad and remove your eye makeup.
  • Continue to use your fingertips to glide the oil all over your face for a minute.
  • Next splash your face with water. And squirt a drop of a very gentle cleanser into your palms and rub together. (I like Olay Gentle Foaming cleanser for sensitive skin)
  • And then glide your fingertips mixing the oil, cleanser, and water all over your face for 30seconds to a one minute! (remember this is key)
  • Finally splash your face with water and pat dry.
Some people use oils as a moisturizer too. And Jojoba oil is a good moisturizer as well! Just two drops into your hands and gently pat all over your face. And you are ready to go goodnight!

Try it and see! I just love using oil as a makeup remover! No Stinging!

People also use Ponds cold cream in place of the oil, so this is a good gentle substitute if you are too scared to use oil on your face just yet. I have never tried it, but many oily skinned gals like it.

And dare I say it.
Mineral Oil. Yes. I said it! Mineral oil can be used as a face oil too! Mineral Oil is not evil, like many natuaral companies want you to believe for some reason.? Mineral oil comes from petroleum, which is what Vaseline is. Petroleum comes right from the earth, so it is completely natural and the most moisturizing ingredient you can find! That is why it is in so many lotions out there! If it was evil and hurt people then these big companies would have stopped using it ages ago!

Mineral Oil also is one of the least clogging oils out there!

I am going to try mineral oil soon! I cannot wait! Because it is way cheaper than Jojoba Oil!
